Goodwill Industries is less than honorable.  You can Google their many scandals.  They do provide some employment for local residents.  They can be a good source of inexpensive tools for beginning woodworkers and hobbyists.  I frequently rescue damaged wooden tchotchkes, cutting boards  and bowls that can be restored.
