Gary Smith, former pirate, pauper, poet and king. Well, not a king, yet. Retired techie who wanted to make things with his hands and have been learning about woodworking for ten years now. I am good at somethings others not so much, but I am still learning.
This is a hobby and not a business. I do sometimes do requests but only charge the cost of the materials. Most of what I make becomes gifts or donations to nonprofits as fundraising items.
During one of my retirements, I decided I wanted to learn more about woodworking. I spent my career first as an electronic technician back when equipment often had vacuum tubes, then noticing that engineers made about twice as much as I did I went back to college to become an electrical engineer. Fortunately, I got interested in computer science and math. Worked as a programmer analyst until I graduated then moved into Information Technology management. It was an awesome career but I missed working with my hands. So I began buying tools, many of which I didn't need, started inventing projects that were more decorative than needed, sometimes useful.
Pay no attention to the old man in the picture, my surveillance camera sometimes captures images of him. I have tried to nab him for years but have so far been unsuccessful. He likes to move my tools around, especially my tape measure and mallet.
